Top Gear’s Carbage

November 11, 2007

We know that this link has been on our sidebar since we upgraded our blog to version 2.0, but I never wrote about how BBC’s Top Gear inspired us with their sheer reviews on automobiles. Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond is probably, by far, the best automotive TV show hosts that we’ve ever watched. Clarkson often trash-talked cars that he doesn’t like, but you know what? Unlike you stinkin’ riceboys that are mostly happy if you can reach 60 kph without having butt-aches, he can actually drive. And so as the other two.

Unlike those stupid Indonesian automotive shows that mostly show nothing but riced-up shits with 20-inch wheels and no engine upgrade, I’d go with Top Gear’s reviews any time in any day.

So our point is, we’re quite proud that the probably best TV auto show in the world shares the same vision with us against ricers. Yes, they hate ricers, too. And in case you Indonesian riceboys doesn’t know what Top Gear is, you might probably want to watch BBC once in a while. YouTube can also be a good place to start looking for Top Gear videos. I know you have pay TV or broadband, I mean, how can you not have one while you can cash out millions to fabricate a shitty body kit?

You may ask that most of Top Gear’s challenges are a bit ricey, as they require the hosts to build, let’s say, amphibious cars or stretch limousines. Well, we can say that they are not ricey. It’s a TV challenge, and in almost every challenge, they proved that building a car to become what isn’t supposed to be will most likely a dumb idea. And trust me, even with all the troubles they often got themselves into, this show is a hundred times better than what you can find on a local TV or any version of Pimp My Ride.

  • Holy shit, man!!!!! I LOVE THE SHOW SO MUCH, I HAVE DOWNLOADED EVERY SINGLE EPISODE OF THEM FROM YOUTUBE!!!! Yes, I agree with about TOP GEAR being the best automotive show on earth. The story is excellent, crazy hosts, insanely awesome video-editing, cool soundtracks, out-of-this-world-stunts and impressive line of cars. But I don’t agree with you comparing Top Gear with some shitty Indonesian automotive tv shows because it’s an insult for TOP GEAR… It’s like comparing a Range Rover to an Isuzu Panther, if you know what i mean.

  • That’s totally right.
Top gear is the best auto show on the earth.
Talking abaout auto show, Actually Otomotif TV have good format because they take TopGear as example. (They also make The Stig Indonesian cousin !).

  • Wataru, I’m afraid I would have to disagree with you. Plagiarizing someone’s TV program format like that is what I call a rip-off. An Indonesian Stig? That is just crap :D

Besides, with a shitty tabloid like that, I would have a lot of doubts for them having a good TV show.

  • Wataru, so sorry I have to agree with unrice. The Indonesian Stig does nothing but driving around.. I can do that as well. First time I watched Otomotif TV, I was so darn disappointed because it was terrible like other auto shows in local TV. Nowhere near TG. The video editing and soundtrack selections are also very ordinary. Sorry, mate.

  • Yeah….well….but i think it is ok to start with imitate someone first.
At least otomotif TV have honest review about the car.

I don’t know about their tabloid now (since i am living in Australia now), but at the past i like their review.

    But i really like TopGear.
Because of their subjective comment, but also they can comment on the car objectively. (Like when Clarkson try the new 911 Carrera Turbo, as we know Clarkson is Porsche hater but he still can tell what is the good thing from the porsche)

  • i like TopGear from BBC and FifthGear from Five equally well.. :)

But they’re kind of competing for some I dunno reason..

  • That’s because Fifth Gear hosts are the old Top Gear hosts, before the show was cancelled for low ratings. They defected to Channel 5 and thus created the name “Fifth Gear” because BBC refused to give the “Top Gear” name to Channel 5. Then BBC decided to revive Top Gear with Jeremy Clarkson and the gang.

And I bet riceboys don’t know any shit about these facts. All they know is Majalah Motor and Contest Carz, or whatever you call that.

  • Yeah, but I though Fifth Gear is kinda lame. All because I found Tiff Needell is a little bit boring compared to Jeremy Clarkson. Tiff is a “straight face” kinda guy with little jokes, while Jeremy provides lots of comic relief to the show simply because he’s like a child in a grown up body. And that theory is confirmed by the lady he was working with in the Mercedes Country Comfort Cottage (or whatever he called it) project. http://www.youtube.com/results.....es+cottage . In summary, I never bothered to download Fifth Gear episodes from YouTube because they’re pretty boring, unlike TopGear with their crazy challenges “http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_Gear#Challenges” and games (DUDE!!! They trash and shoot cars for fun!!!!)
