Add More Horsepower!

While I’m at modifikasi.com, nothing is wrong by checking the updates put there. I found this post by MrPerkasa, which I must say, a good comment:

Akhirnya gua lihat juga tuh website. Secara keseluruhan bagus kok, konstruktif. I like it.

Cuma satu yang gua nggak suka, yaitu penggunaan statement “This adds 50hp, that adds 100hp”, dst. Selain nggak original,

ini dapat diartikan:

a. Pemilik website menganggap bahwa If it does not add power, it’s not worth installing. Artinya wajar kalau ada yang beranggapan bahwa mereka picik, yang hanya berpikir modif itu untuk kenceng. Mereka nggak bisa menerima bahwa orang lain ada yang modif untuk kenyamanan, untuk style, bahkan hanya untuk ekspresikan jiwa artistiknya, soal jadi bagus, itu relatif. Masa gua pasang jok kulit elektrik, sound system, car phone, gps, dibilang “it adds 60HP”?

Really, those are actually jokes. But I see the point in your advice, we’ll take great considerations on it. But most of all, we do try to comprehend all the parts installed in a car based on their functions, of course in your examples, electric seats, sound systems, car phone, and GPS. We won’t be saying that those add several horsepower to the car. So really, we try to take considerations on that too. But we can’t agree more if you’re modding your car for comfort. By far for us personally, that’s the best reason why you mod your vehicles.

b. Pemilik website menganggap bahwa yang memodif mobilnya ingin mobilnya terlihat kencang. Kalau ini yang mereka pikir, sorry to say this, agak-agak kurang ajar. Nobody judge why I modify my car. Siapapun nggak berhak berpikir kenapa gua modif mobil gua, entah itu ingin terlihat kencang, ingin terlihat mewah, atau sekedar ingin terlihat beda, kan mereka nggak tahu.

Again, I see your point. But do believe us that we’re not going that low. While we won’t be able to agree completely with you with the guys who try to look fast, but we’ll do our best to comprehend.

Selain itu gua saranin kepada pemilik website tersebut untuk:

1. Berikan benefit of the doubt
Artinya jangan masukkin ke situ when you cannot prove it like you say. Misalnya di situ ada tulisan “Apa gunanya External RPM di mobil bermesin stock?”. Lebih baik jangan tulis begitu, KECUALI ada foto mesin yang masih stock tersebut (dan jangan cuma bilang “we’ve seen the engine, and it is still stock”). Atau misalnya lihat tulisan TURBO di sebuah mobil, please jangan dicela sampai you buka kap mesinnya dan lihat memang nggak ada turbo di situ, dan kalau mau nyela, sertakan dong fotonya.

You’re correct about that particular post. Our mistake and our apologies, we’ll be taking that part off. And about the turbo sticker example. Don’t worry, we bash only on the riceys. And whenever possible, we’ll do our best to check the insides of the car, and try to give all the particular details on every post.

2. Just because you don’t know it exists, does not mean it does not exist
Yang sederhana misalnya lihat Kijang ada emblem 4WD. Please jangan comment sampai bener lihat transmisinya, karena bisa aja tuh orang import 4WD systemnya dari Taiwan (as per the post in the website) untuk di pasang di Kijangnya dia. Pernah lihat Avanza type V? Remember, just because you don’t know it exists, does not mean it does not exist.

First of all, my apologies for Arin, Tahukuning, and the rest of the gang for bringing the topic back up. But this is starting to get on my nerves, so I guess I have to write everything all over again just to RECLARIFY several things that have been RECLARIFIED. I’ve been stumbling myself over and over to the thread in modifikasi.com about our site. Just for the sake of security and taking notes on our blog. But some people, or maybe one person to be exact, doesn’t seem to understand the whole post I wrote down before. Jadi, untuk itu, gue tulis ini pake Bahasa Indonesia deh. contoh lain adalah honda jazz vtec…jazz vtec keluar warna kuning dan joknya pun kuning…jujur menurut gw itu gak ricey, tapi setahu gw joknya itu HARUS kuning, tidak bisa ditukar dengan warna hitam pada saat membeli mobil…gw tahu ini karena temen gw sudah beli, dan dia sudah meminta Honda utk menukar dengan jok warna hitam, tapi pihak Honda tidak bisa…apakah ini termasuk ricey dr Honda sendiri ???

Ya itu kan factory-built, ya sud lah, ampun deh… Again, liat lagi di atas (sigh).

contoh lain, sunroof di Killer Kijang…mungkin ini suatu inovasi yg akan berkembang…apa disebut ricey ???

Who ever said sunroofs are forbidden, kalo penggunaannya tepat, ya ngga masalah, bukannya sunroof itu diciptakan dengan alasan yang valid? Inovasi sih inovasi, tapi kalo penggunaannya ngga tepat, itu namanya bukan inovasi, itu clutter. I thought of all people, design students should know this better.

ajang show off di autoshow sendiri sebenernya jg banyak mobil harian, dan yg punya mobil merasa “mobil gw pantas utk dipamerkan”, karena mobilnya punya suatu kelebihan…dan masih difungsikan sebagai mobil harian…KECUALI bagi pemilik mobil yg mengincar gelar King, karena hampir semua mobil yg merebut gelar King, mobilnya tidak layak jalan…

Jaman berkembang, dolo autosalon 2001, King nya masih bisa difungsikan sebagai mobil harian, tapi sekarang perlu inovasi2 baru, karena akan bosan bila seperti itu terus, dan semua org pun bisa menjadi King…

Common sense aja ya, it doesn’t even look good. Lagian loe juga yang bilang sendiri, selera orang beda-beda. Bukankah begitu, bung Ghodeck? Dan itu juga bukan karena mobilnya Atoz. Gue personally memang ngga prefer untuk punya Atoz, tapi bukan berarti orang laen ngga boleh punya dong? We treat the cars we put equally. Again, which part of that you don’t understand? Akhir kata gini ya, ngga ada di blog kita yang memang mau nyari ribut ato debat kusir sama loe, but if you can’t appreciate our freedom of speech, then that is your choice. Kecuali memang kita cela abis-abisan mobil loe disini, ato memang mau? Personally I’d love to if it’s not against our policy of not reviewing showcars. Lagian, gue juga mikir ya, loe tau aja perkembangan post di blog kita. Don’t tell me you’re beginning to like our blog? Hehehehe.

Lucu ya, we did this blog for fun, but some people thought that the whole thing is their whole meaning of life. For those who are, I’d say, get a life, guys. No, seriously. Beyond the gullwing doors of your heavily modded cars, there is another new meaning of life.

Should you decide to continue, this is the Projekt EightSix #04 from JTuned. It’s basically a Toyota AE86 Trueno, restored and enhanced. We’ve read the whole article, listed the parts they used in this slick-looking Hachi Roku, and we’re pretty much impressed that every part they use is really accounted for. Thorough but efficient modification. And it doesn’t even have 17″ rims or larger. Not that it’ll look bad with them, but it just doesn’t need any of those. Efficient.

This is what the art of car mods should be, because you know every detail of your car. Not only for the sake of looking good (That is if it was good anyway). They don’t lower cars because they thought it’ll look good. Of course it’ll look good! What really matters is the effect of doing that, and how you do that. And you don’t need a full trunk of audio goodies, because probably, a set of a bazooka tube and proper speakers would be enough all along to give music to your ears. Less is more.

See? We like Japanese cars, they are nice. And you don’t have to look weird to be nice-looking and fast. And we believe this car can perform really well for everyday use, and it ain’t bad either to be put in a car show. Remember, form follow function.
